Monga Qingshan Temple Midnight Patrol and Pilgrimage
Wanhua District hosts one of Taipei's biggest traditional religious celebrations
The 2026 Monga Qingshan Temple Midnight Patrol & Pilgrimage will take place across Wanhua from Saturday November 28 to Monday November 30, filling the district's streets with temple processions, performances, and religious ceremonies.
Known locally as the "Monga Grand Worship," the event is considered one of Taipei's three major traditional temple festivals, according to Taipei Travel.
The first two days feature nighttime patrols through southern and northern Wanhua District, when the Qingshan King and accompanying deities are traditionally believed to drive away evil spirits and cleanse the neighborhood. The final day features the main daytime pilgrimage procession through the district, according to Monga Qingshan Temple.
The festival was registered as a Taipei folk cultural asset in 2010 and is held each year ahead of the Qingshan King's birthday on the 23rd day of the 10th lunar month. Organizers also typically hold concerts, markets, cultural performances, and other activities around the main religious events.
