Sacrifice and Warfare: Guide to Ancient Weapons
An exploration of the evolution, roles, and ritual significance of ancient Chinese weaponry

The National Palace Museum is currently hosting Sacrifice and Warfare: Guide to Ancient Weapons, an exhibition centered round the historical development of bronze weapons.
The display details the technological journey of blade-making, tracing transitions from early polished stone and jade tools to revolutionary metallurgy that defined ancient warfare, according to the National Palace Museum's website.
These historical objects eventually transcended their tactical roles on the battlefield to become integrated into aristocratic ritual systems as clear symbols of social status and power, the museum said.
Divided into four themed sections, the exhibition presents an evolution that spans from the late Neolithic period through the thriving bronze eras of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, before concluding with the rise of iron weapons during the Qin and Han periods.
