The National Palace Museum is presenting "Return of Mythical Creatures in Artifacts," an exhibition exploring how ancient societies imagined and revered the natural world through legendary beings.
Spanning from pre-Qin antiquity to the modern era, the display features items ranging from ancient bronzes to everyday household objects centered around the East Asian cultural sphere, the museum's website said.
Presented in collaboration with Beigang Chao-Tian Temple and the National Museum of Taiwan History, the exhibition traces the origins and status of these mysterious figures using classical texts.
Visitors can observe how oral traditions and written words were translated into tangible art forms across four thematic areas focused on the appearance, status, special powers, and locations of these fantastical entities, the museum's website said.
